Hunting carry
I have a 5" M&P 2.0 that I would like to carry while hunting. I have been considering HPG kit bags or a chest rig like the Kenai from Gunfighters Inc. I hike in with a pack, usually have bibs, so a belt holster is not high on the probability list. Any other recommendations?

Re: Hunting carry
I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but I believe it is fine to carry any handgun you want for personal protection while hunting, just don't dispatch a wounded animal with a semi-auto.

Re: Hunting carry
Know that, it is why I have reduced loads with plain lead bullets for my rifle. No reason to use a full power load for a final light switch moment. The equivalent of a 38 Spcl in the server room does the trick.
Hoppy, I hate IWB. I'd also use whatever I get for hiking, and that is why I was primarily looking at a kit bag.Last edited by Hersh5317; October 21st, 2022 at 09:29 PM. Reason: Clarify remark about reduced loads, apparently it is needed

Re: Hunting carry
I carry my glock 26 iwb even under my bibs while hunting. The only other thing I've thought about is chest rig for 357 magnum,

Re: Hunting carry
Buckengr, thank you for the insights. The SAR bag is larger than I was thinking. I was looking at the medium footprint Recon. I wanted something that was less tempting to overload, but had options if I needed to carry a few more items.I have been looking at those kydex trigger guard covers, they make sense in this application.
I just got a great deal on one of those lumbar packs with a shoulder harness that looks to be able to dock the kit bag on. I'd be adding a blaze orange accessory pouch on the front of it as well to make up for the lost orange covered up by the bag. Most of being smart is knowing what you are dumb at.
