.357 Magnum in Special Regs?
Hey Guys,
Been outta hunting for awhile…. And just heard that straight walled cartridges are now legal in some special regs areas….(excluding Philly).
I have searched on line…. But damned if I can find any requirements listed…. I have heard the minimum is .44 but I can’t imagine why a hot .357 mag. Would be unacceptable for deer…. Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks!

Re: .357 Magnum in Special Regs?
the .44 min is for muzzleloaders. this is from the hunting guide for special regs firearms.
"Remaining Counties – Manually operated rifles chambered for
straight-walled centerfire cartridges, except at Ridley Creek
and Tyler state parks; muzzleloading long guns, 44-caliber or
larger; manual or semiautomatic shotguns, .410 or larger, using
slugs"

You're good to go with 357. I confirmed last year with an email to the game commission. I worked up my own load for allegheny county last season.

Yeah, you're good to go with a .357 Mag. I'd look for a nice Henry, or a revolver will do if you keep distances a little shorter.

Hows abput a 458 win. mag? It's pretty straight walled. Load with 300 gr. hollow points, does the job just fine. Hanna or no ?
You don't have enough guns untill you don't know how many you have.

Thanks for the reply*s troops* and also to Mongo, who is merely pawn, in game of life!
I have a Rossi, lever gun, that I would be comfortable out to 100 yards with, maybe pick up some Buffalo Bore Rounds*. As I know they have some slap to them! Shame I can*t use my suppressor, not that I*d hunt with them, but .38s through my 9mm can are super quiet! (Almost Hollywood Quiet!) I also have a .45-70 trapdoor carbine, that may be fun too!
Thanks!

Why not hunt with a suppressor?
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
