Re: Cheapest place to get 7.62x54?
I'll second Classic Arms. Both Classic and AIM never give me any trouble. The last two guns I ordered from Classic were on par with everyone else's hand-pick.
Another detail about Classic -- they update their web page several times per week, it's a fairly accurate representation of what they're offering at any given time.Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"
Archie Bunker: "would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"

Re: Cheapest place to get 7.62x54?
If the import-prohibited item can be made domestically at a profit - someone in the USA will step in and make it.
Hopefully.
Speaking of which, We can only hope that someone steps up and starts making 5.45x39 and 7.62x54R ammo in the USA, else a whole lot of folks will have wallhangers...

Re: Cheapest place to get 7.62x54?
I got a local gun shop that claims to have 7.62 x 54r Remington rounds. They're abt $20 for 20 rounds. I haven't been to check it out, but that's what the guy said over the phone. that's expensive, but it's domestic.

I just did a quick search. I didn't see the Remington. I did find some Winchester for $17.77 a box, and a site with some assorted quantities of FMJ at each of these two links:

Re: Cheapest place to get 7.62x54?
A friend of mine in AZ had a Mosin and bought 7.62x54R in bulk from J&G. Check for the most recent prices in Shotgun News. The J&G ad is usually around page 25. Ive met most of the guys that work there as I almost stayed in AZ and moved to Prescott. (The girl I was dating lived up there and woulda been worth the move if she hadnt left me for her ex) I even had an application filled out for them but didnt end up moving. If you do buy from them try to stay away from the steel core ammo. Especially if the range you go to has steel targets up. They dont like holes in those. We got kicked out of Usery Pass Shooting Range because my idiot friend grabbed the wrong ammo can and was sending steel core rounds down range.

That is awesome! My Father in Law punches holes in steel plates in his back yard with his M44 to show off.
