Gun Registration
My husband purchased a gun for me several years ago and I had signed some paperwork for it. We are currently separated and I would like to have the gun that is in my name. How can I find out which gun was registered in my name?

Re: Gun Registration
The gun is a .38 caliber, I believe. He has it and is not very friendly towards me. So, if I ask for it back, he won't give it. I just don't want a gun out there with my name on and I have no control over what happens with it.

pistols have to be registered.you are responsible for that gun.if he won't give it back then he needs to put it in his name.otherwise i guess you can report it as stolen.

you can sell someone a rifle and just hand it to them and its theirs.if you sell or give away a pistol it has to be signed over to the buyer and it means filling out papers at a gun store and going through a back ground check.i assumed it was called registering the pistol but maybe theres a different name for it.anyway,i'd do what the last guy said.

Re: Gun Registration
First, I am going to assume we are talking about a handgun.
If we are, when you bought it your name was attached to the purchase.
However, there is no transfer issues between spouses so it is not illegal for the husband (or wife) to lay claim to the firearm.
You need to contact a lawyer since this may end up as a martial property issue.
You could go to the police and request they run your information to find what if any firearms are under your name, then proceed from their.
