    Default reloading swiss -31 ?

    Friends:
Shrubdog asks Keystoners for info on best source of dies and brass and bullets for reloading Swiss K-31 ammo. Shrubdog began his career as a reloader today at 10:00 am, purchased used equipment and received lesson from wise reloading friend, loaded a box of .270 Win, sooo nice and accurate on target this afternoon at 1:00 pm. Made me proud. Next challenge, 7.5 x 55. Swiss. Thanks. Shrubdog...

I use nothing but RCBS dies. I got brass for my K-31 from Graf's. Bullets are standard .308 FMJ, but I also have some hunting rounds loaded up.

RCBS all the way. Watch your OAL when reloading for K-31, don't go by the book. They have shallow throats. I always take an empty case with no primer and insert the selected type of slug part way, load it in the chamber and slam the bolt shut. You want your OAL a few thousandths shorter than the shell you eject. I write down the OAL using that type of slug for future reference. The ogive on GP-11 is narrow, Berger VLD is the closest slug available. This may affect pressure, so watch for signs of over pressure and I always chrono them to see where I'm at.
