Applying for a PA permit
I'm applying for a PA non resident permit. Does anyone have any experience on how long it takes? I'm from Vermont and need to acquire my PA permit so that I can send a copy to NH to get their non resident permit. This is what NH told me to do since Vermont does not require or issue permits.

I'd contact the Centre County Sheriffs Office, they're really nice about the NR permits.

I've actually read that it is faster than a resident.

I got mine in 2 1/2 hours.
If you can't get ahold of Centre try Erie County http://www.eriecountysheriffs.org/Divisions4.htm They are incredibly friendly and like guns.

Ask fellow Vermonter Paul Sorvino
Paul Sorvino who has a residence in Vermont, recently used a gun to defend his himself an daughter. While the Scranton Times does mention that he broke no laws, it kind of stops short of telling the truth about Vermont's gun laws. Or lack there of.
Instead they seem to be trying to say he somehow mis-represented himself as a sheriffs deputy from Lackawanna County. (He is an honorary deputy)

Re: Applying for a PA permit
The fact that he may have misrepresented himself is a separate issue. You don't need to be an LEO to carry concealed in Vermont. Besides, how do we know he was carrying concealed? Fact is anyone in Vermont that is not prohibited from owning firearms has the right to keep and bear arms, concealed or not. That is guaranteed by Vermont's constitution. There is no need for any government official to determine if you have a right to carry concealed, since it is allowable based on our constitution. Also, Vermont has one of the lowest crime rates per capita!

Re: Applying for a PA permit
Yes. I am from Vermont and as you know, Vermont does not issue or require permits. I did send two passport size pics and they put one on the permit. However, on the carbon copy of the permit I received, it states, "valid w/out pic".
