    Default Dick's - Remington UMC

A Dick's just opened near me, they have Remington UMC for sale at just under 10 bucks a box for 20 rounds. I know some .223 gets salty, but is the UMC worth $.50 per round?

I have my rifle. Do you?

did some research and I can get .223 a lot cheaper elsewhere.

I came across a guy on gun broker with free shipping on the Remington UMC .223 ammo at $399 for 1000rds. That ends up $8 a box. But you can get the Privi Partisan on ammoman.com for $7.50 a box. All depends on what you would rather have. I go with the Prvi though.

Remington rifle ammo, including UMC and Ultramax, is not the best choice in autoloading rifles due to projectile setback issues from what I have read on arfcom for a long time.

Since you shouldn't be paying more than $300-$350 for non-match .223 it's not even a consideration. Look around a little more. For non-match ammo in .223, Winchester is great (but pricey). Prvi is outstanding, and among the cheapest (2007 or later is good). Lake City/Federal XM193 is good as long as you have a 5.56 chamber. Federal (non-LC) is OK, but just above Remington. Again. speaking only of decent low-priced non-match ammo. PMC is just fine, I shoot it FA and never a problem.
