looking for a SxS to build into a SBS in 09

I've got a couple of projects to finish which should take me into mid 09 after which I'd like to dip my toe into the NFA world.

I would love to get a hold of a short barreled, pistol gripped double barrel shotgun ala mad max.

Where is a good place to find an affordable SxS? I'm not trying to create a work of art and the finished piece would be an occasional range toy rather than for serious use. I've seen some inexpensive ones made by Baikal and there's some Chinese ones for sale from SOG. Anyone have any experience with these?

Assuming I find the shotgun and the paperwork clears, etc.

I think I would have the barrel cut down by a gunsmith, I could do it myself but as long as it's not overly expensive I'll let someone with the proper tools and experience do it. Anyone know around how much this should cost?

Same goes for the stock cut down. Would you have a gunsmith do it or a woodworker?

Where's a good place to get the engraving done here in SE PA?

This is uncharted territory for me so any advice or suggestions are welcome.
Although I wish my budget was limitless I only have so much cash to devote to this project, so any ways of keeping it cheaper are appreciated.

Go for a Stevens or Savage SXS , 1 trigger ,no external hammers. OR buy a NIB Century import Norinco coach gun.

Same boat as you.

I can't find a decent host gun to SBS yet.................................Have a Form 1 all ready and signed off BUT haven't found the right gun.

where did you buy your spartan? and if you dont mind how much did you pay for it (ballpark)? ive been thinking about getting one for awhile
