    Default American made

not sure if its been covered before the 1911 thread here got me to thinking...

does anyone have a list of companies that actually are made in America ?

and perhaps a list of American companies that outsource to other countries ?

my one buddy and i have both been thinking about buying new pistols, i have a Taurus and a CZ but would like to go American this time, i was leaning toward Springfield but with what synergy stated being made in Brazil...

    Kimber? STI? COlt?

just something i'd like to know , thanks in advance !!

Colt, Ed Brown, Les Baer, Wilson, Nighthawk, Guncrafters, Volkman, Fusion. Springers and Taurus are made in Brazil except for the SA Pro line which is made here with parts from abroad and RIA is from the Philipines. RRA used to until they stopped building 1911's. I am sure others will be by if I missed any........

The Pro is the only Custom shop build from SA that is a "production" pistol unless something changed recently . I think they also did a run with Hilton Yam built on the TRP.

Unless they have changed the TRP to a Custom Shop pistol they are considered production pistols that are built in Brazil.

SA Custom Shop will work on any of their pistols or any pistol just like a Custom Gunsmith would but that is seperate from their production side. They are very good in that department and their product shows it.

I have a couple SA`s. Are they built in Brazil or are some parts just forged there at what I understand is a top notch foundry?

For the most part their parts are made in Brazil. For their Pro line they are built here using parts from abroad, all other production is done in Brazil. SA steel is good and metallurgy has never been any real problem.
