Charles Daly AR15 question
Does anyone have any knowledge about the quality or have experiances with a Charles Daly AR15? I was just at the Philadelphia gun show and saw a couple of them that I was interested in.

Re: Charles Daly AR15 question
I looked over some of their rifles at the NRA Convention in KY this year. Of course the manufacturers always have the best stuff out for those events, the rifles looked decent, not that you can tell much in a static environment like that. What little i've been able to read about them online and off pretty much says they're decent and I haven't heard any negatives come out yet. If the price were right and it was available right now, you might want to think about it...

AJ

You spurred my curiosity, so I did some digging.
I'm buying one, provided I can get it how I want it, and it isn't much more than my alternatives. Being in the industry has its perks.
Looking at their attention to detail, I'd honestly recommend these guns as the equal of most any other DI gun on the shelf. The M4LE model looks like direct competition with the Colt 6920. Colts inside knowledge gives them an edge, but I'd feel comfortable with a CD, too.
I'd buy these over a Bushmaster, RRA, S&W, DPMS, etc.

Re: Charles Daly AR15 question
I went and bought one this weekend at the Philadelphia gun show. After checking out all the information I could find, it seems like these are a pretty good buy. Now i have to get out to a range I can try it out at. I bought the CDD15 model. while I was there I also picked up 6 mags for it and another couple for my XD40
I will post pics if and when I can figure out how to post them on here.Last edited by Driver400; November 9th, 2008 at 03:39 PM. Reason: added info

Re: Charles Daly AR15 question
Hello,
The Charles Daly AR's are Double Star builds (IIRC). They are nice quality. Jim Heverling in Campbelltown, PA had quite a few to sell. If you are interested, call him. 717-838-5952

Re: Charles Daly AR15 question
I saw that they were saying that the lowers were Doublestar...are you saying there are other parts supplied by Doublestar, also?
The biggest difference with AR's is in the details. Gas key staking, correct extractor upgrades and buffers...stuff like that. It looks like CD is really keeping a close eye on the details...I don't know if the same is true with doublestar.

Re: Charles Daly AR15 question
while I have no experience with there AR's, I do have experience with Charles Daly. They are stand up people, IMO. I wouldn't have a problem buying any of ther products... even the "low-end" pistols.
