they ask for ID for Federal Law purposes.

the GCA of 1968 makes it illegal for a FFL dealer to sell a handgun, or handgun ammunition to anyone under 21 years of age.

Under the GCA, rifles, shotguns, and ammunition for same maybe sold to any non-prohibited person 18 years of age or older.

In the case of ammunition that can be used in a handgun OR rifle, they will ask for ID and for which firearm it's intended for.

Don't blame Walmart for following the law thats been on the books since 1968.

I myself, when buying "dual use" ammo ALWAYS reply "for a machinegun"...and I usually get some wide eyed looks

i myself rarely shop at Maomart, and when i do, I try my best to purchase USA made items..there is a surprisingly large amount of US made stuff to be found.

Buy American. It's the patriotic thing to do.

The only other time I've had it happen was at the Lebanon Walmart as I as buying some .45acp.

I gave him my license so he could "check my age" and he swiped it into the register.... asked "what the hell'd ya do that for?" Told me he was suppose to.

Ever since then 'Cash Only' last night was the first time since then I've had anyone ask for ID.

If he had told me no with my LTCF, I wouldn't have bought it.... Gander Mtn has match the price on ammo and stuff anyways, they don't give a crap.
