Use the rifle you shoot more accurately.
Use the rifle with the action more familiar to you.
If you use the .45LC, check out Buffalo Bore ammo.

A hot loaded .45 colt can come close (if not match) the original 45-70 rifle loads so why would you think it would be marginal for deer? Have you heard of an animal called a Buffalo?
But I agree the .223 is marginal on deer.......yes I said it.

If I remember correctly. The c z had a twist rate of 1 in 12. Optimal bullet weight of around 40 grains. Not my pick for deer. 45 lc would be my pick of the 2
