About the best and cheapest for plinking is the Winchester white box stuff in my experience.

I find the WWB a little dirtier than the Remington UMC. But the performance of the two is indistinguishable. But both are extremely good values for the money

Fiocchi 115gr FMJ. It's cleaner, hotter, and (because it's Italian) sexier than Winchester White Box. I get it locally for about the same price too.

Fiocchi does make ammo in the USA, but the 6 boxes I have on hand say "Made in Italy." They are lot numbers made after the recall notice and not subject to the recall.

Either UMC or Win is good stuff and can be found for cheap nearly everywhere...even Wal-Mart. Both are pretty clean too.

The Russian steel case stuff is cheap but VERY dirty. Sellior and Belliot is also cheap and quite dirty so steer clear of that one too.

I've been using Blazer aluminum cased ammo for practice and training courses for the last 8 years in both 9mm and .45 ACP.

It's no dirtier than any of the generic brass cased from the big three (win / rem / fed).

Forgot about that one!! I use/have used Blazer in 380/9mm/10mm/44 mag and 45 ACP. It's been good stuff for me too and some of the cleaner stuff I shot.

I have been shying away from it as of late (which is why I forgot about it) because I have been concentrating on reloadable ammo (due to the high ammo costs as of late).
