    Default AR build question

Ok, so i'm going to pick up an AR in the next few weeks here. But hearing all the talk about building one, you got me interested.
I'm looking for an A3 model, with a 16" barrel and CAR stock.
But thats about it as far as what i want. Kinda like bushmasters.
First, how hard is it do build? Dont want to mess anything up, also, how much do you all think it would run me? I'd like it to be in 5.56 nato.

    Thanks for any tips folks!

Del Ton sells a kit like that for $460.

All you need is punches, some black tape and about an hour.

Plenty of build threads around here in the rifle forum. Don't be afraid to ask or PM if you need help.

Buy an Anvil or Stag lower. Anvil has great prices at the moment and are of excellent quality.

The kits come with the standard A2 grip. Grips are a personal thing, but all my serious guns get the Ergo ambi.

I just completed my build, with a 16" CAR Del-Ton kit, with Del-Ton lower. Took me about an hour and a half, using the video and directions from AR15.com, it was my first build, and I found it to be very easy. I think my total was $750 including FFL transer, shipping and taxes. Comparing that to buying a NJ legal AR, I saved a bundle, and loved putting it together. See my thread for more info: Thread

    Good luck, and have fun!

Where can i pick up the anvil lower? And that grip, http://www.operationparts.com/Produc...-SG-BK&click=2

Does it attach right to the lower, or does it fit over the standerd grip.

Another question, with the stripped lower, where do i pick up the "guts"?

If you buy a kit, all the parts will be included, except for the lower receiver.
    Anvil Arms

I'll let the other guys answer the grip question, I think its its own grip, but can't be sure as I just got started too!

Most "kits"..including the Del Ton come with everything to assemble a complete gun except the lower...including "guts".

Anvil arms has some wait time, but it's worth it.

The ergo ambi grip is found at Midway. It's a complete replacement grip.

BUT....you can get that later when you find what suits YOU best. The standard grip won't make your eyes bleed or anything....

Well, not an "upper kit", but a full rifle kit and you're good to go.
