Default Wild Wild West TV show "sleeve derringer"

Years ago I remember seeing on the Wild Wild West where main character James West, with just a flick of his wrist, would make a derringer come down his shirt sleeve and into his hand.

I'm curious if this was just a TV prop or if there really are derringers like this. Might be a good idea for concealed carry.

I seem to recall some little mounting brace that did in fact work up the sleeve like that - crooking the arm seemed to knock the pistol right down into your hand, as I recall. Might have been on "Old West Tech" on the History Channel or some such.

Not sure if it was around in the 1880's mind you - might've been more a 1930's sort of contraption, but if you scroogle search "derringer," perhaps it will - ahem - pop up.

Unless you're ALSO prone to wearing 1880's (or 1930's!) era clothing, it may not be QUITE as practical as a good hip holster though. I mean, the next Pennsylvanian I see walk up to me in a Zoot suit, is DEFINITELY gonna set off some alarm bells!

these rigs are simple to make with a drawer slide and some springs/straps.

hell, just watch the movie "Taxi Driver" with DeNiro, he makes one in that movie.
