Question Could Obama outlaw handgun reciprocity agreements between states?

While replying in the "Mississippi" thread about reciprocity issues (BTW, we do not at this time have handgun reciprocity with that state) I thought of something.

With this new guy coming in as US president, wonder if there is any way that he could get something passed outlawing handgun reciprocity agreements between states?

True, these are state-to-state agreements, but since there are 2 states involved in each separate agreement...does the interstate nature of these in any way make it a federal issue?

Only after consolidating all power to his office and changing the title of his job to "The Leader"

Where would his or Congress's authority come from to regulate something that doesn't have to do with commerce?

slick willy tried to define handguns as commerce in 1996 (give or take a year). The only thing that stopped his was a couple conservative (aka intelligent) Justices. This time around, we may not be so lucky given the facts and Obama may be appointing as many as 5 new justices during his term (s).

Article 10 of the U.S. Constitution prevents the U.S. government from interfering with interstate compacts.

In order to do that, he would have to take all power to make agreements of any kind with each other from the states, that is a power that the federal government doesn't have, and even with peoples willingness to roll over and take it, that's one thing i doubt anyone would stand idly by and allow to happen.

What makes anyone think that the ruling party would have any qualms violating the Constitution or at least ensuing that judges and justices will see it as a living document? They've already stated that the people have given them their orders. Of course they could try to do this and it is up to us to kick our reps and sens in the ass to make sure that it doesn't happen.

Remember the gas additive. I know Pa was told if they don't add it to gas then all Federal Highway funds would be pulled. Had no choice but to put the additive in gas rasied the price by $.05 a gal in Philadelphia and surronding counties

Well Technically it is "a living document" but only through the process of being able to amend it.. Which is supposed to be a difficult process..

I really do wish that the founding fathers were just a TAD more specific in some areas.. But they had to keep it so vaguely worded because they needed to get it ratified quickly..

Btw.. Did you know the Constitution has typos? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typo_in...s_Constitution. And PA used to only have have one N? I love history

Ahh the English language.. No wonder they use latin for medical topics.. Dead languages don't change over the centuries.. lol

Could the Obama administration issue a federal ban of concealed carry permits regardless of state law permitting them? This apologist article for Obama even admits that he is opposed to concealed carry.
