Want to help me build a long-range AR?

I've decided, as my own personal way to "celebrate" the election , I'm going to build myself a kick-ass, long range AR-15 platform rifle. I currently own a 16" AR Carbine, which kicks ass for short range shooting, and I want to supplement it with a dedicated, long range tack driver. This is going to be used around 500-600 yards max. I'd like to keep the cost of the whole build, including glass and mounts, under $2500. So . . .. . I need your suggestions for the following:

1. Lower receiver
2. Lower receiver parts kit
3. Buttstock (adjustable cheek weld preferable)
4. Trigger
5. Upper receiver (I want a flat top for sure)
6. Barrel/free float handguard
7. Bolt carrier group (chrome maybe?)
8. Scope rings
9. Scope
10. Bipod

So what do you think guys and gals?

If it were me:

1. Lower receiver - RRA, STAG

2. Lower receiver parts kit - RRA

3. Buttstock (adjustable cheek weld preferable) - Magpul adjustable stock (not the carbine one but the model is escaping me at the moment)

4. Trigger - geiselle automatics trigger

5. Upper receiver (I want a flat top for sure) - get this from the same company as the lower

6. Barrel/free float handguard - 24" fluted bull barrel, either carbon fiber handguard or YHM handguard with a gas block.

7. Bolt carrier group (chrome maybe?) - Young manufacturing NM carrier, you could go TiN coated as well, matching bolt.

8. Scope rings - leupold

9. Scope - leupold with whatever cash is left.

10. Bipod - Harris of some sort.

Dont forget a nice grip to your preference as well.

So what do you think guys and gals?

1- stag arms lower(usually the cheapest quality lower around IMO)
2-i'd go RRA LPK with a 2-stage trigger, but really any known LPK should work i'd personally go stag, or RRA.
3-if you want an adjustable stock i'd go with the magpul PRS, but don't underestimate a standard A2 stock
4-If your looking for a match trigger go with the jewell, but timney, jard and a couple others are great and the RRA 2-stage is a solid trigger too.
5- white oak armament has some awesome uppers complete uppers, and some awesome parts. Probably who i'd go with if i meant business. But for the average shooter something like the RRA varmint uppers will work just fine.
6-for the barrel see above about white oak. The handguard is really preference, just make sure its free float.
7-I don't really think you need anything but a milspec BCG, but if you want a chrome or whatever that gold one is go for it.
8-leupold makes some nice rings, i also just picked up a set of burris xtreme which so far are holding up to 50bmg. lots of choices out there, and it may depend on the upper, scope, and even the stock you get.
9- if you want to go drop a k on a leupold feel free, but really i'd look into the nikon buckmasters, bushnell elite 3200's. They are very fairly priced, and have some great glass in the, I've got a buckmaster 4.5-14 in mil-dot and absolutely love it.

Or call pete at legal transfers ( http://ar15sales.com/ )for a Rock River varmint style rifle. All you'd "need" is a Magpul PRS stock, a good mount, and some glass.

I got mine for $909 shipped.

A few suggestions...

For the scope mount I'd highly recommend the LaRue SPR mount. It is already set up for the correct height and eye relief, and is detachable but will return to zero.

I also put a Geissele trigger in mine and I really like it a lot too. It's a little pricey though.

White Oak seems to be making some very nice barrels. I have one of their 18" barrels and it's very accurate.

Please don't skimp on the scope.

Can you give me a link to the carbon fiber handguard you used on your AR build? I think I want one for mine.

I used a Clark carbon fiber float tube from Brownells. They come already glued to the barrel nut and are a bit more subdued for color.

DPMS makes one a bit brighter, but you need to glue it with the epoxy they provide. Here is Colagrrls for comparison:

Both are very, very light and don't get nearly as hot under fire as aluminum.
