Covid Halts out-of-state LTCF requests
Went to the Sheriff's office to renew my LTCF. I am a PA resident. The sign on the door said that they were not processing out-of-state requests at this time. I inquired to the deputy as to why this was so and he answered that it was our Governor's order to keep out of state applicants from coming in to Pennsylvania during the ongoing Covid crisis.
Once the crisis is over, he explained, the restriction will be lifted.
I might add that the Sheriff's office was more than friendly, highly efficient, and I got through the renewal in just over 10 minutes.

Some offices will use any excuse not to issue to non-residents.
I've heard that others are business as usual.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

If the governor doesn't want filthy diseased ridden out of staters in PA, then why doesn't he just close the borders? Or is some business conducted in PA ok, and other's not?

When he gets complaints from out of staters about our businesses, he should be bringing them in and holding them in quarantine for two weeks too.

Great, now there's an official, state-sanctioned reason for sheriffs to refuse to accept applications.
This paradigm is going to continue to get worse. Mark my words, it won't be long before they start refusing to accept applications from residents.

What county is this? I'm thinking it's not an 'order from the governor' but more likely an excuse to not process applications. For what reason I'm not sure...

Since when can the governor make laws? Even the President can't make laws. Oh, yeh, never mind.

Re: Covid Halts out-of-state LTCF requests
Well, if Erie County is following this order, every county must be.
From Erie County Sheriff FB page:
Out of state applicants will NOT be able to have their applications processed, due to the recommendations set forth by the Pennsylvania Center for Disease Control (CDC).
Once the PACDC allows, persons traveling to our office from out of state, you MUST show DOCUMENTATION that you have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entering the Commonwealth or you will be denied entry into the court house.
We will still be accepting mail in applications addressed to the Erie County Sheriff's Office 140 West 6th Street, Erie, PA 16501 .
