I have experienced the bliss of bump firing for just enough to make me want to do it more.

Sadly, its a rush I cant afford with the current prices of ammo.

Lycanthrope, Good job on showing the way of the dark side! What were you guy bump fireing with AK's or AR's or something else? It's a rush for those who can not afford FA weapons and have not had the chance to shot them either. A website time that you guys might enjoy follows.

interesting the poor mans machinegun site primarily shows the guy using the rubber band trick on SBRs (or MGs and hes faking)....apparently the $200 tax is a high priced alternative to title 1 firearms

we used to facilitate the bumpfire with a appropriate sized chunk of rubber tubing (like vacuum or heater hose for a car) behind the trigger, did the same thing, and less of a PITA to wrap around the gun.

Jaybell, how well did the heater or vacuum hose stay put while preforming the act? Did you just wedge it behind trigger?
In all reality I know the bumpfire concept really isnt all that great but for those of us who can't afford MG's its the next best thing. You get to play with MG's when ever you feel, lucky bastard!

    I was bumping my AR.

Using the rubber band or something behind the trigger helps to bump guns that have heavy triggers with a lot of overtravel or very little recoil. You want the trigger to reset quickly. I just lighten the springs in mine a bit and have good results with 4lb triggers. Someday I'll put my 2.5lb Jewell in the carbine and see how that works.

You're pulling the gun with your weak hand and holding your trigger finger stationary. Don't grip the pistol grip with your strong hand at first. Later you can do it lightly. You need to have the gun off your shoulder at least .75 inches. Pull the gun lightly into your stationary finger until the sear trips. Pull too hard and it will only fire once because your're not letting the gun bounce back off your finger. The recoil allows the trigger to reset. Get the right amount of pressure and you'll remember it.

It's a fun trick with few real uses save for putting a smile on your face and giving you the FA bug.

Ugh, one more type of ammo to stockpile...

Buy a stripped receiver for $100. We'll build you a gun for under $600 total.

Is that with or without the supressor? haha, jk.

I'll start looking into this more seriously and check out my old thread in the Q&A section. Let me know if you come across something in the interim.

Also, is the receiver the lower? Is there a difference? I'm told the receiver is the part to get shipped to your FFL and everything else I can get shipped to my house.

    Is this correct?

I think I will document the process so I can make a tutorial and post it on here for other newbies. Time to get a digicam!

    Thanks guys.
