old 300 H&H ammo
I have recently acquired 4 boxes of .300 H&H Remington Kleanbore oil-proof 220 gr. core-lokt HP round -nose. It is so old the headstamp is "REM-UMC 300 magnum". It exceptionally bright and shiny. Can anyone tell me if it has collector value? The boxes are in so-so shape.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: old 300 H&H ammo
At Midway USA, it sells for $33 to $80 a box. As a collector, I know that I can pick up loose rounds for $1 a piece at a cartridge collector show.
80 rounds in boxes would be worth most to someone who actually has that rifle chambered for that 300 H&H Magnum.

Re: old 300 H&H ammo
I have such a rifle. My dad bought it in 1947, three years before I was born, M70 Super Grade. I have tried some of that $33 Bitteroot Valley ammo. Quality components, but not a good load. I was getting 180 fps variation. I think they used a fairly fast ball powder. Since I have several herds of elk that saunter through my front yard, I think the 220 gr. Core-Lokt might just work for me.
