Mosin Nagant?
So i was at a pawnshop and i saw a gun setting in the corner. I asked the man who worked there if it was a Mosin Nagant russian ww2 rifle. He said he didnt know but i could look at it if I wanted. So I looked at it and didnt see the star that the communist stamp on it. It almost resembled a russian nagant but it had different markings. Any idea what this is, I have no clue and hes wanting 75 dollars for it, he called it junkyard material. But i dont think hes all there in the head. Should I buy it?
May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't

Re: Mosin Nagant?
It isn't junkyard material. These rifles were built to last war, get one and take care of it and it will be shooting for more than 100 years.
For 75 dollars, if it isn't cut down at all, I'd pick it up. For me to know what kind it is specifically I'd need more info. Barrel length, receiver date, ANY markings, attached bayonet?

Re: Mosin Nagant?
Should you buy it? Depends. If its a mismatched beater in sad shape, then $75.00 may be a little high. I've seen arsenal refurbed Mosins cheaper than that at some recent gunshows. If it turns out to be a rarer gun then $75.00 is a bargain. Either way $75.00 is not the worst you'll pay for one of these guns, but I'd find out more first. To me your description of the markings sounds like it may be a run of the mill Izchevek(sp?) gun. Does it have an arrow with a triangle, or other markings? A star on the receiver usually in dicates a Tula aresenal gun, which is rarer than the Izchevek produced guns. All my mosins are Izzy's.

Re: Mosin Nagant?
A good start, the receiver (where the markings were) was it rounded on top, or blocky with flats?

Re: Mosin Nagant?
I would probably buy it. Should be worth more than he wants for it:

Buy it! If you don't like it you can at least resell it for more.
