Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
Mine has the polished slide panels that are a sort of plum color, similar to the slide on Vandy's pistol. Here is my 1978 BDA 45 with a newer P220 45 sibling:
The irregular color on the bright slide panels is due to the film of Corrosion-X on the weapon.
This is a great thread, and I'm glad to see it resurrected for updating.

Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
No Wiley, .38 super is also prohibited for civilians. Actually as a civilian you can own and register the calibers i metioned before, but only to protect your home, you can not carry a gun in the streets, for that, you need a special permit. Also as a civilian you can enroll in a military program sort of like a Ranger, this way you can carry (while wearing the unifrom) almost any caliber permited for armed forces only. Of course, you have rights and obligations too! Our laws are sort of complicated! Of course there is another way to own and carry almost anything you want, that would be being a criminal, but sooner or later, you will end either dead or in jail!

Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
I've got a BDA in 45 cal, but the slide is stainless. It's a nice reliable accurate weapon, but I'd like to replace the grips with something softer but grippier. Like the Pachmeyer wrap around grips, but they don't fit the BDA. Any suggestions?
