Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
I hate to be a nit picker. Okay, I love being a nit picker.
It's "Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft."
In 1977, Browning contracted with Sig Sauer to produce the gun. It became known as the Browning Double Action or BDA. Browning produced these guns until 1980,

Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
You are correct - good catch.
I had it backwards. Sig contracted with Browning to import the gun - not produce it. I fixed my original post along with the correct spelling of "Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft"
no shit - I thought I was having deja vu.

That's a nice BDA, Vandy.
It looks to be in great shape. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
1blindref, where did you see/find the HJ indication that told you the year? I have one of these in 9mm and would be interested in knowing more about mine. Got it from my grandfather when he passed. It sure shoots nicely. Any idea where I can find one of those user's manuals? Thanks. I'll try to post some pics too.

Re: Browning / Sig Sauer BDA history
Thats because i have a place in Miami, but i dont live there, i live in Mexico, and in Mexico as a civilian you can only register .22, .25, .32, .380 and 38sp for handguns!
The gun is registered to my fathers name (he is air force-retired), and i guess it will stay that way forever, until the law changes!
Here are a couple of pics of my baby!Last edited by amigo; October 20th, 2010 at 01:45 PM.
