Re: Shipping a hand gun to the manufacture?
The only time I ever had to send a firearm back to the manufacturer it was to S&W, and after calling them they sent a prepaid FedEx box. Dropped it off at the nearest office without any porblems or issues.

Re: Shipping a hand gun to the manufacture?
You can NOT ship through the post office unless you are an FFL/manufacturer/gov agency, etc
You can ship it common carrier (most require overnight for handguns) Send it sig required and insured. Federal law requires you disclose the contents to the shipper, they are not allowed to mark the package in anyway indicating the contents.
Or you can take it to a FFL to ship. Which is usually easier. May be more or less $ dependent on your local circumstances._________________________________________

Yeah, use FedEx or UPS Next Day Air. Besides, USPS mail is not known for precise tracking!

Re: Shipping a hand gun to the manufacture?
As PAPatriot said, USPS can ship handguns for FFLS and Govt only, they have special forms for this that require dealer info.
Shipping longarms via USPS is ok.
and, as a legal note, you are REQUIRED BY LAW to notify any carrier that the package has a firearm in it when shipping.
you cannot tell them its "custom hole puncher" or some other BS, you must tell them is a firearm."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: Shipping a hand gun to the manufacture?
USPS doesn't have a tracking system for customers...They have 'delivery confirmation'....odd, but that's what it is. when punching in the number, it'll only show information when the package was delivered.
I have only had to ship a barrel/slide out before for sight installation and I used USPS.Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty

Re: Shipping a hand gun to the manufacture?
I have shipped 3 firearms to 3 different manufacturers.
1. AR15 to S&W - they sent me a UPS label for free, but I provided my own packaging.
2. Tomcat to Beretta - costed me $10 + actually shipping cost of $12 from a private FFL.
3. Guardian .380 to NAA - costed me $45 total from an LGS.
If you can get them to front the label, that would be best. A private FFL dealer (someone who doesn't have a storefront) is cheapest if you can find one near you who won't rape you by forcing you to ship overnight. LGS is expensive. It's kinda hard to hide what you're shipping when your label contains S&W, Beretta, or some other firearms manufacturer's name.
