Delco LTCF Renewal BS.
I received my LTCF renewal application in the mail this past Saturday. The letter included with the renewal application is dated March 26. It said I could stop by the sheriff's office during normal business hours.
I had to head up to Newtown Square to do some business this afternoon so I figured I might stop by the courthouse to drop off my application. Nope. I got there and was told that I have to make an appointment. No walk in's allowed. I called the number and the person who answered took my name and number and told me they'd call me back to schedule a time to come in and drop off my application.
An hour later I get a call from the Sheriff's office. They tell me that I have to come in on the morning of SEPTEMBER 9TH!
I told the lady that my license expires on July 20, and they didn't send me the application until last week. She said that the Governor has extended licenses through July 31 so I'm good through the end of next month. I said that's nice of him, but my calendar says that September 9th is after July 31st. What if he doesn't give another extension I asked? She said there's nothing they can do about that and to take it up with the Governor.
They're also now requiring renewal applicants to bring two forms of ID with them, and your existing LTCF doesn't count. I asked if my UT permit (which has my picture, name, address, etc. on it) would suffice and she said it would not. I need a driver's license or state ID and something else, such as a utility bill, mortgage statement, etc. I've had a LTCF for over 20 years and have never had to bring any other form of ID with me before to renew. Looks like the Sheriff is trying to make things a little more difficult.

Re: Delco LTCF Renewal BS.
The governor has zero authority to offer the extensions to begin with. It just isn't in the law, but then, when did laws matter to him?

Damn, that's a lot of bullshit. Fortunately, I renewed a few months ago so hopefully this shit resolves by expiration time and there's a new Sheriff in town and a Repub in Harrisburg by then, too.

Re: Delco LTCF Renewal BS.
Don't feel bad. I'm in a similar situation.
I never received a renewal notice. Completely forgot about it expiring.
The July "extension" does me little good because I just now looked at the Allegheny county website and it's by appointment only also.
First available appointment? September 23rd.
(ours only requires one form of ID though)
Edit to add: (from the Allegheny county sheriff website)
Q: I was told that there is now a grace period of firearms licenses. Is this true?
A: Yes. Title 18, Section 6106 b(12) now clearly states that as long as you are eligible to renew your license, said license is still valid for six months beyond the printed expiration date on the card.Last edited by Emptymag; June 30th, 2020 at 01:07 AM.

Don't you believe it! (In an echo voice)
Don't travel on an expired license. That includes Philadelphia. Unless you like paying lawyer fees.
To carry concealed without a current ltcf is a prohibiting offense.

Re: Delco LTCF Renewal BS.
If you're an NRA or GOA member contact them to see if they are interested. Way back when the LTCF first became shall issue, the Delaware County sheriff required fingerprints. That's not in the law. I contacted the NRA and they put me in touch with one of their lawyers. He called me back a few days later and said to go apply again and....no fingerprints. Not sure what they would do nowadays. This is what you get with a demonrat sheriff.

I get it. The f tards who would have to write the law can not be trusted. They wouldn't write a clean bill. Besides the people who could force the issue need standing. That also means money to feed the legalise economy.
But here is the thing. I now have to renew my drivers license and because of covid they are going to just mail it to me after paying online. They will use my last picture. No photo card. No DMV.
So fuck Wolf and any Pa Sheriff not doing their job issuing ltcf. The Gun is the Badge of a Free Man

Re: Delco LTCF Renewal BS.
If you print it out and read it you will find it is an exemption you can argue to a judge but if you carry on an expired license its a prohibiting offense. An exemption is not a guarantee. You will be thousands of dollars into lawyer fees by that time.
Im getting tired of posting this. Its like talking to little kids who are looking at the free candy van. As long as that van is on the street you know a kid is going to go missing. The Gun is the Badge of a Free Man
