Default It was my turn to defend Open Carry

So this afternoon I had to stop in the dollar tree in Spring Grove. I was wearing black slacks, white shirt, Glock 23, and a tie. I left my jacket hung up in the truck and walked in. Quite a few folks gave me a look. So I grab what I needed and head the cashier. Once there, one of the ladies asked me what time the funeral started and the other says: "Boy I am glad you have your badge beside your gun". I asked her what do you mean by that? She says, well someone would think you might wanna rob the place. I started to laugh a bit and asked if she had ever heard of someone robbing a place while carrying a weapon in the open (yeah I know, it can and does happen). I then said, besides it is completely legal for me to do so without my badge and if I wasn't an officer. Anyone can walk in here with one displayed. She cocked her head and said now that I think about it, you're completely right. I asked for directions to the school and headed out the door

Anyways, thought I'd share that with y'all

It's understandable that there is some fear at that location. There have been 2 shootings in that strip mall the past few years.

Thanks guys! I am by no means the perfect cop, we all make mistakes, but I try my best. It really annoys me when I hear fellow officers screwed something up. And trust me, it happens alot. Really annoys me when I tell some new officers; No you can't do that and they don't believe me. Normally I hand them the law book and say read it all and then come back to me.

Plus who is going to rob a store with 300 PLUS cops next door??
