Revolver Question...
OK, S&W's website drives me insane (not a long drive)!
Does S&W produce a revolver in .357 that is the same size as the 642 in .38?
What is the smallest & lightest .357 revolver S&W makes? Do they make a .38 that is smaller than their smallest .357?
I prefer a shrouded hammer.
Thanks. I am not very familiar with S&W's.~ Luke... Come to the dark side... We have cookies! ~

Re: Revolver Question...
Yes. Models 340 and 640 are both small-frame revolvers in 357mag flavor and both have shrouded hammers.

Re: Revolver Question...
The 340 and 360 are super little guns. I like the 340 with a front night sight.
At 12 ounces, you wont find a .38 or .357 any lighter.
Hold on tight to these little rockets. With full house .357 loads your hand will feel like someone hit your palm 5 times with a wiffleball bat. I shoot my friends 340 quite often, and I smile and shake my head every time.
Thank God for the M&PC in 9mm.

Re: Revolver Question...
My son-in-law had one of the Ultralites. First time I shot it was with hot .357's. After 20-30 rounds with me not showing any discomfort, he stepped me down to some of his hot load .38 +P's. The whole time I was impressing him with the macho bit, all I could think of was how many ibuprofen I had in the truck.
Bought a 442 and shoot medium load .38's. The whole series seem to be nice little guns, but .357 seems to be a bit much for the weight of the revolver.

Re: Revolver Question...
I will agree that 340 is a jumpy little bugger. Also, costing SEVERAL hundred dollars more than the 642, you need to ask yourself if the .357 is THAT much more effective. In terms of shootability alone, I would say most people are better off with the 642. I shoot a 340 quite a bit, but am the proud owner and daily carrier of a 642.
