Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli has been appearing in public claiming his protection of the Second Amendment. Mr. Morganelli is currently running for the office of Attorney General. Eastern Pennsylvania Firearms Coalition Co-Chairman John Brinson recently sent this into the Morning Call, regarding the NRA's rating of Morganelli.

"To the Editor

I like John Morganelli, but he’s not to be trusted on gun rights. He was rated “F” because his questionnaire exposed his unreliability on gun rights. Also, he is supported by a radical anti-gun group, CeaseFirePA. That tells me he has made some “assurances” to them.

The NRA supports both Rs and Ds, and rates candidates fairly. The current NRA magazine shows many Rs and Ds in the same races, both with A ratings. In those cases, the NRA endorses the incumbent. For example, in the Senate race for the 35th CD, John Wozniak (D) and Joe Veranese (R) both got “A” ratings, but the NRA endorsed Wozniak. (Our local Senators Boscola, Browne, and Wonderling are not up for election this year.)

In our area, most of the legislators got “A” ratings, including Reichley (R), Harhart (R), Dally (R), Argall (R), Beyer (R), Clymer (R) and Grucela (D). All the other Ds got “D” ratings, except for Freeman (D), who got an “F”. An “F” rating by the NRA means “A true enemy of gun rights.”

Candidate Gary Day (R) also got an “A” rating while his opponent, John Ritter (D), did not answer the NRA questionnaire.
