Default Re: Miculek competition lifter for Mossberg 930!

Just to note, I never had much luck with the 930. Sold it off (with disclosure). My pump shotties are Mossberg, my semi-auto is Franchi.

Do anyone of you shotgun guys have any exparience with the 940 ?

The only semi auto shotgun I have is an old 1100 trap gun. It has been remarkably reliable over the years but it is just used for trap and really never run it hard.

Mossberg just released the 940 this year. There aren't many reviews outside of the paid shills. For the most part, it looks like Mossberg copied the work that Or3gun (spacer tube / spring plunger) and SBE Precision (piston / mag follower) did for the 930 aftermarket, and incorporated it into the 940. I'd like to think that it's *probably* more reliable than the 930, but like NathanB, I'm not willing to find out.

For what they're asking for the 940 ($8-900 street), you can get a Beretta 1301 Tactical. The Beretta Blink action is faster, more tolerant of round variation, and more reliable. If you want the comp bells and whistles, for a couple hundred more, you can get the 1301 Comp ($1100). And for top of the line, there's the 1301 Comp Pro ($1300).

For a long time Mossberg semi autos were made by Howa of Japan. Don't know if they are still the contractor making Mossberg semis for them.

    Thanks for the insight.
