    Default sig 239 trigger question

Recently purchased my first Sig, a 239 9mm. I noticed the trigger needs to be pull way back almost to the point of hitting the back of the trigger guard in order to fire the gun. In fact, I got a little "bald" spot at the back of the trigger because I'm hitting the trigger guard when I follow through with my pull. I hope I'm describing this clearly. Is this normal for Sigs? Other wise, the gun is great, no failure of any kind with about 500 rounds through it.

can you get us some pics or video?

It'd be nice to see where exactly the break point is, you describe.

That is completely normal for a P239 and the other standard DA/SA "P" series Sigs.

Just remember that when doing a string of shots, you only need to release the trigger to the point where it "clicks". Take the time to consiously hold the trigger fully to the rear after each shot and practice the trigger "reset". Doing this for a short while will get you used to it to the point where you can fire double and triples while doing the reset.

Thanks for the helpful feedback. My opinion on the Sig trigger is there is a bit too much pretravel but the SA is very light. I'm getting use to the trigger but my personal preference is my Kimber 1911. However, I do like the DA/SA approach because it feels "safer" for me.

I bet that'll pass with time.

Nothing wrong with DA/SA...but I'd wager as you gain more confidence with your gun handeling, you'll begin to find heavier first trigger pulls to be un-necessary. Just my .02$
