.22 ar pistol to get my son started.
I’m not very familiar with .22 ARs in general, but I don’t want to mess with a conversion or dedicated upper. I figure it can be a trainer for the whole family, so I want to get a quality one, preferably without having to spend over a grand.
I also want an AR pistol, because even I don’t like full length muskets.
Tips? Suggestions?"Cives Arma Ferant"

Ruger Charger. Check them out. Or PC carbine for basic longer option.

Two separates guns or wanting a .22 AR pistol?
If 2 separate, I’m very happy with my Sig M400 AR pistol. It’s got an 11.5” barrel and even shooting suppressed has never had a hiccup. I swapped out factory trigger and put in a Geissele to keep it same as other rifles. It now has a Sig Romeo 5 red dot and Vortex micro 3X magnifier and I really love that combo.
ETA. Closed out and saw thread tile specifying 22 AR pistol. Negate above advise.Last edited by Palerider; May 10th, 2020 at 08:50 AM.

Re: .22 ar pistol to get my son started.
The Tippmann M4-22 is definitely a good choice. Only caveat is it uses proprietary mags. Most reviews say that helps with reliability. If that's the case, it wouldn't deter me from buying one.
Another option is the HK416 Pistol in .22lr. Also good reviews. Uses Umarex/Walther .22lr AR style mags. Less expensive than the Tippmann M4-22, but it doesn't include a brace, so figure another $100 or more depending on what you go for. Out of stock everywhere, though.

The Sig 522 pistols were really nice. Another one for the I shoulda bought one back then list. I'm pretty sure Tanner's had them for $299 just before they stopped making them.
I have the rifle version but a pistol would be fun.

2 separate firearms or just an AR pistol?
If rifle and pistol - for an AR .22, S&W M&P15-22 for the rifle. Have had a lot of customers buy them and all have been happy with them (and not a lot of $$)
AR Pistol, buy or build, your choice how you want to go. I've done transfers for people buying the Ruger AR pistol, SIG M400, PSA AR pistol, and others and all have been happyRon USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

I think the tippman is probably the best bet. I’d lean more towards a charger due to the mags being compatible across the others I have
