Re: Conflicting Stories!
When I moved, they said all I needed was my change of address card for my DL, and that my address would be changed when I renew my LTC.

Re: Conflicting Stories!
i was told that as long as your dl was current that you could just change your ltc when u renew it.....when i moved i just went to the court house and changed it anyways, just to save confusion and trouble.....also when the sheriff sends out your reminder letters and any other stuff, you prolly wont get it if the address is different...

Re: Conflicting Stories!
It is advisable to update it or let your sheriff (new county) know you moved. Should you need to use your CCW or be harrassed it would be helpful to have your current address on it.
It is not required. Unlike your D/L it is good till it expires regardless if you have moved (unless revoked of course). You do need to notify PENNDOT you moved and get an updated drivers license. I'm assuming the local LE isn't part of the county Sheriff's office? Considering the Sheriff issues permits, I wouldn't expect local or township LEOs to know much about permits in general as they don't handle them.Last edited by KeithPA; March 4th, 2007 at 10:12 PM.

Re: Conflicting Stories!
I'll echo what the others have said. When I moved (a grand total of three blocks) I called the Sherrif, and was informed that it wasn't required I notify them, but it helps when they send out my renewal letter and the like.

Re: Conflicting Stories!
When in doubt, check the Uniform Firearms Act. If you do, you will find there is nothing there requiring or permitting one to change the address on their LTCF. If you go to the County Sheriff's office, they will not have any forms available to permit you to change the address since such forms do not exist.
In contrast to this, you will find mention in the driver's license law referencing changing one's address, and you will also find forms for such at your PennDOT Driver's License Center.
Bottom line, the license is good until either expired or revoked. Doesn't matter what address is on the LTCF as long as the DL address is correct. And if some local police officer says otherwise, then ask him kindly to show you where such a requirement exists in Pennsylvania's Uniform Firearms Act (and they should have a copy of such readily available).

Re: Conflicting Stories!
I know we covered this before but I couldnt even find the post from my last answer so I dont blame you for asking :-)
The License is still valid until expiration.
However, as someone pointed out it probably is best to have you're current address since many LEOs arent as well informed as SteveInPA (if you havent read his posts on these boards search for them...most informative).
We moved from Northampton County to Carbon Carbon. Northampton was kind enough to just issue us NEW Licenses with the Carbon Address without charging an additional fee and no waiting period for the investigation...something Carbon would have done since naturally each Sheriff's office is independent of the otherif you ever see my post edited...its most likely for speling :D
