    They are built like tanks and so are a load, but will out live any of us.
    They are a hoot to shoot while sitting on your butt at a shooting bench, so unless you are planning on jogging with it or just really want a compact U/folder AK - go for it.

    You would be talking about the RPK. They aren't as bad as you would think weight wise but they also really aren't meant as a 'shoulder weapon'. They (IMHO) are more of a 'fox hole' weapon. I've looked at several and that should be my next purchase (provided the money is there). As nfafan mentioned they are built like tanks (mostly the barrel) ... definitely originally made for full auto.

    I saw a Lnacaster AK for $675 or there about. Is that a good price?

    the barrel is(obvioulsly) longer, but also thicker.
    the trunion is wider.
    and the receiver is made from a thicker gauge sheet metal.
    it's only metal, we can out think it....

    Doesn't sound too bad. I've heard a lot of good things about Lancaster. Anymore, anything around $600 is a good deal unless it's a WASR.
