    Default Beowulf 50 or 12.7x42 AR 15

I built a 12.7x42 AR with a Bear Creek 18" barrel. I loaded an Alexander Arms 10 round magazine with practice ammo and using the charging handle it will not pick up the round from the chamber and eject it. The round stays in the chamber tight and I need to use a cleaning rod to push it out. I used an after market bolt first then purchased an Alexander
Arms bolt and it made no difference. I am using Alexander Arms ammo. I took it out this morning and it fired and cycled with no failures but still will not eject a round in the chamber when using the charging handle. Any suggestions?

Why does it function when firing it? It does not pick up the cartridge only when manually cycling it with the charging handle.

I am thinking you are getting a bit of blowback assist when firing. If you inspect the cases are there any marks that might give a clue? If you take the bolt out of the gun and manually insert a case, how hard is it to get the extractor to hold it, and how well does it do so?

Sounds overgassed to me. Gas is blowing back the BCG before the round unseals from the chamber. Thus pushing the extractor over the rim.

Sounds like it works OK when firing (gassed) but fails when manually ejecting...

Could the bolt be installed in the BCG 180deg flipped ?

    Yep. Seen that now. Wow.

    I'm tired.

Ok. So now that I'm having a moment of clarity you have a chamber issue. Sounds like the bullet is engaging in the rifling when the BCG closes. Thus cant manually extract. But once fired it's fine because the bullet is no longer stuck.

I'm betting the lead in to the rifling is very short.

Google short chamber throat on CZ pistols and you'll get the idea where I'm coming from.

This makes sense. If so shouldn't the bullet have marks on it when it is punched out with the cleaning rod?
You could use a sharpie to darken the bullet and confirm this as well.

Check your fired case for any scuff marks / scratches from your possibly rough chamber.
