I*ve had ballistol protect better and that*s supposed to emulsify with water and I*ve watched water bead right off it.

That looks like EWL Carbon Killer being reconstituted. Any chance of applying the Carbon Killer and not removing it before applying the Slip2000?

While I realize it isn*t difficult to lubrications a firearm I would not use 3-1 oil unless I had nothing else and couldn*t get anything else. There are far too many gun products/better products to use

I don't understand why this keeps coming up. 3in1 oil is a vegetable based oil and gums up after it heats up and left to sit. If you're going to use 3in1 they have a petroleum based product which used to be called Sewing Machine Oil. It's now called Motor Oil. I have the same trouble at my bicycle collectors forum with this oil and WD-40. Neither one is good for guns or bicycles as a lubricant. WD-40 can be used as cleaning agent for caked on hardened grease though with its main ingredient being Naphthalene. WD-40 works well to free up internal gear hubs but you have to flush them out with some fresh lubricating oil afterwards. Don't use 3in1 regular on things that get hot like guns and bike gears.
