You can also use the Mean Arms EndoMag inserts that go into p-mags. No need for a mag block for the lower. If you already have a bunch of Glock mags then the lower mag block may be the way to go. I didn't have any Glock mags so I got several of the EndoMags. They have 2 different kind, a regular and one to use with CMMG uppers.
Also remember it is probably a good idea to change to an extended 9MM buffer when using the 9MM upper.

You need some sort of mag block to accommodate the type of mags you want to use - Colt style, or Glock.

You need a 9mm heavy buffer.

I think that's it for the lower.

For the upper, the only difference is the barrel and the bolt carrier group.

There are "9mm buffers". Get one.
Simple.

Oh, there's also some sort of thing to add to one - a buffer for the buffer? I forget.
Not sure it's needed in all applications. I'm sure it's mentioned in my thread(s).
It's not critical - it reduces wear. (as best I recall)

Edit: "Buffer spacer" is the name of the thing I mentioned.
It may be that newer designs of buffers no longer need them. Look into it.

No idea. I built mine by selecting the parts I wanted - I didn't look at kits at the time.

Even at current pricing being slightly elevated, this isn't a horrible price for a 9mm specific complete lower.
It's for Colt pattern mags. Glock lower appears to be more.
A good mag block to insert in an existing AR lower is going to cost $75 - $175 depending on the brand, so dedicated lowers are often the more affordable route.
Just depends on what you have and what you want to do.
A dedicated 9mm lower is always that. A 9mm mag block can be removed from a standard lower if you want to use the lower for a different caliber.

No real reason to avoid Glock pattern stuff.
I think they look gay the way the mag is at an angle, but that has no bearing in function.

Glock 30+ rd mags are about the same price as Colt mags of the same size. Colt mags (Metalform is the most reliable brand) are made of steel, so they are heavier if that's a factor.

I don't have any advice on choosing barrel length for 9mm - I don't know if/how much it affects performance.
I always prefer the shortest pistol possible, but that's me.
Hand guards come in SO many lengths now, you should be able to outfit it no matter the barrel you choose.

If the barrel does end up within the hand guard, a flash can or similar device can safely extend past the end to keep hot gasses moving in the right direction.

I'm in the middle of a 9mm AR pistol build (7.5"barrel) and will be suppressed. I'm using a Stern Defense insert for Glock mags. It is well made and very secure in the mag well. Yes, a dedicated 9mm lower is more aesthetically pleasing but I have a few standard lowers available so no need to buy another (at this time). Mine is a direct blowback action so no gas tube or anything like that and the bcg has a buffer weight so I don't have to go with quite as heavy buffer. The buffer spring is a carbine length.
