Some older guns have the number on the bottom of the frame (the butt) where the grips are, and it can be hidden with the grips attached.

Strangely there are no numbers there. 2 sets of identical numbers inside by the cylinder on the frame and where the wheel flips out. Thanks

How old a gun is this? If I remember right guns made before the mid 1930's were not required to have a serial number. A lot had them and some did not.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

    Between 1952 and 1953.

Most Cobras had an LW as a suffix, but not all.
