Police were responding Wednesday to a report of shots fired at Western Kentucky University.

The WKU Police Department said it responded to a report of shots fired near Pearce Ford Tower on the Bowling Green campus.

University spokesman Bob Skipper said at least one building on the university's south campus was evacuated and police were searching the area. University lawyer Deborah Wilkins said there were no reports of injuries.

Students calling WAVE-TV said there were two announcements over WKU's campuswide public address system telling students to take shelter.

The university is about an hour north of Nashville, Tenn. South campus is home to Bowling Green Community College, one of the university's six undergraduate colleges.
