Re: Free HD TV
Boy, I got antenna reception at a motel near St Mary’s one time. I would encourage anyone not getting reception to try a different antenna.

Re: Free HD TV
Cable and fiber companies compress the digital signals. Getting the signals over the air gives you a higher quality picture and sound. It's similar to the difference between listening to a CD and an MP3.
Most stations have changed their frequencies to UHF channels, but still keep their old channels (and branding) as "virtual channels". To choose the right antenna for your location, you need to know what the actual channels are and where the antennas are located. https://www.tvfool.com/ is a good tool for this information, as well as bearings from your exact location and signal predictions based on terrain and radio voodoo. Armed with this information, you can choose an antenna with the right specifications for your location and stations you want to see. Choose an antenna from a supplier that gives technical specs instead of magical claims, and if your budget allows, use decent RG6 coax (which is still crap at these frequencies, but "good enough"). Do the best you can with what you're willing/able to spend, but by using science that is freely available, you can get the best bang for your bucks.Boy, I say boy, you're reaching the limits of my medication!

A good number of our stations broadcast from the tower farm in Roxborough but not all of them. Would it be possible to install two antennae facing different directions and blend them together into one coax line?

As a kid growing up we always had to go outside and turn the antenna for the 4 different channels we got. In the winter you used a pipe wrench.

Re: Free HD TV
Growing up I remember only getting 4 over the air and thought I died and went to heaven when we got cable and had 12. Today I think I get over 20 over the air. And with amazon prime, no need to have a satellite bill

Re: Free HD TV
Thinking about this a bit, it can work. The antennas should be the same and the exact same brand and length of cable should be used between the antennas and splitter. There may still be problems with reflected signals, and there will be some loss through the splitter.
