Re: School me on lever action rifles!
I've entertained the thought of getting a cheap one and getting the barrel threaded for a can. I just haven't been able to find a cheap one.

Re: School me on lever action rifles!
Everyone should have at least one lever gun!
I've got three: a new Marlin 336 in .35 Remington, a Henry Big Boy in .44 magnum and a Henry H001T in .22 lr.
The Marlin 336 is a classic! I love this design way more than a Winchester 94. As much rap as I've heard about Remlins, it is a can find rifle. The fit and finish and function of my Temp in is actually much better than the old Marlin 336 that I used to us e that was made a year before they closed the original factory and sold out to Remimgton. I hunted with this rifle all deer and near season. It is my favorite lever gun.
The Henry .44 is also a great rifle. It is a bit heavy, but it is short and compact and I find it very easy to carry while hunting. because of that. I hunt thick brush and longer boot guns with scopes are a pain in the butt in that environment. The Henry is the perfect heavy brush gun for bear hunting.I
I just bought the Henry.22 a month or so ago. It is the most fun that I've ever had with a rifle! An accurate plinker with a smooth action. Wish I would have bought it a long time ago. Since it has the octagonal barrel as well, it is moderately heavy, but not so heavy that it makes any difference. I can't wait to take it for small game this fall.Sed ego sum homo indomitus

Re: School me on lever action rifles!
You do. In 38/357. Reasons being:
1) badass cowboy look
2) shares ammo with your trusty revolver sidearm
3) 38s are like plinking with 22s and 357s are still light recoiling but with nearly rifle ballistics downrange.
4) legal in all jurisdictions I know of
5) no mags to forget when you pack for the range
Shall I go on?
