Fossil was battling cancer. He went completely dark a couple years ago in the midst of it. Unfortunately, I think he's no longer with us. I wish we could confirm that though, I would nominate him for inmemorium status if we knew for sure.

A couple months ago when someone else asked about him, I spent more than an hour trying to get any information I could using his account information here. I couldn't find anything based upon that. If he did pass, it's possible that if he had an Obit run, it didn't run in the area which he indicated he was from.
