Favorite Barrel Length for "Non-Essential" AR

Suppose you have all of your AR needs covered. You have your home defense rifle(s), you have your collector rifle(s), you have your SHTF rifle(s), etc. Beyond the essentials, you may have a few or many others "just because".... what is your favorite barrel length for that type of rifle?

This is mostly geared toward 5.56x45 NATO chambered ARs.

I voted 'other'. My needs are covered by the two I have and never shoot. A collapsible stock 16in bbl ''M4gery'' carbine and a 20in heavy barrel -A2 style rifle.

But the thought has crossed my mind to build a 24-26in bull-barrel , fast twist , heavy bullet tack-driver. Don't even know what length barrel would be optimal.

excuse me for asking..but why would one need a third AR if the two you own have not been shot ? when I'm done a build, moments later I'm in the back yard with a mag testing it out. unless highly connectable or rare, why own one's you do not shoot ?

Whoops! after re reading my comprehension kicked in. and after thinking for awhile, I have a few in the safe that haven't seen daylight in a few years also. Now that we are locked down in double secret probation I may empty one of the safes out and fix the drooping felt liner that I've been meaning to get to for a year or so !

My answer is "anything under 16 inch".

My 7.5" AR has me spoiled and longer carbines just seem silly now.
I'm debating a 10.5" build for the superior ballistics over the 7.5", but I just don't have the money to build another one at the moment.

I have my AR's to round out my US military lineage , because I got great deals on them , I have shot service rifle matches , but in all honesty , I just don't really enjoy shooting them when I have so many more interesting rifles and so little range time. I probably haven't taken either of my 5.56 rifle to the range in 6yrs.

Now my heavy-barrel LR-308 is a different story!

Building my first right now, a standard 16" but I'm already planning a 10.5" next.
