Default Anyone want to help out dating a S&W 29-3?

Blued 29-3 with 10 5/8 Silhouette barrel. Serial # AHZ61xx (the xs are numerals too)
Never got around to getting a book. Thanks in advance, Brian

    I have a 29-2 that was made in 1978, I believe.

    Unfortunately I don't have a S&W reference book.

Looked in my book (3rd Edition of the Standard Catalog of S&W) and the 29-3 Silhouette (10 5/8 bbl) was introduced in 1983. The 29-4 came out in 1988 and then under the s/n look up with the 3 letter, 4 digit, the AHZ, by interpolation, was probably around 1986-1987. Sorry I can't get any closer.

You can get a letter if you really want to know.

Thanks x-raying. It’s close enough to me as it’s just a shooter anyway.
And to gunsnwater I keep on putting off getting that letter for a couple that I’m a little more interested in. It’s on the back burner though, thanks and stay safe.
Here it is always being safety conscious

Yup me too. I keep thinking about getting letters for a few but they really are not going to increase in value over a letter. Its just curiosity.

Nevertheless, guns are dangerous. I hope the door and the window are locked, so it can't get into mischief.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
