    Default Questions RE Shotgun Shells

I have a pile of various shotgun shells that I am sorting through so I can do something with them. My question is...I have these 2 3/4x1x6 shells and some 3 1/4x1x6 shells and visually I can't tell them apart. They are the same ht. What is the difference on these things?

Need some pictures. Include a ruler if you can.

We got pictures. 2 3/4 on the left, 3 1/4 on the right. The one is a hair longer than the other but the pictures make it look like its more of a difference than it is.

I thought the length was the uncrimped shell. Maybe there's more shoved into one than the other?

The 3 1/4 may be referring to Dram Equivalent, not shell length. Though that's quite a high Dram Eq for a low brass shell.

This is the answer, Dram equivalent. I have some old "Dove" loads that are marked 3 1/4 Dram.
