    Default Sight Pushing

I have a .308 lever action that is shooting about 2" right so I need to push the front sight. I know that I need to push it right to move the POI to the left but how much should I move it? I'm thinking I'll measure it with calipers and tap it over with a punch unless someone local has a sight pusher.

The amount you need to move it will depend on a lot of things. I suspect you are going to go through a lot of trial and error to get it right.
Does your rifle even have a front sight pusher? I recently installed a new front sight in a Ruger 10/22 and despite how wildly popular they are, i couldn't find a front sight pusher that looked like it would work well enough to purchase. I ended up using a brass punch and hammer with a piece of cloth to keep from marring the sight.

It's always been trial and error for me when I do it. Move it, shoot, move some more, shoot again, move some more, shoot again, dammit moved too much, move it back. Some are real tight to drift. Maybe fab one out of a C clamp.

OK, thanks, I'll just measure where it's at and give it tap and try it out.

The calculations are actually fairly easy to do. Or there are online calculators available.

I've always done trial and error but this will get you closer right now without a range trip and will save you the couple rounds to zero.
