Re: Get back home bag
if you have that much stuff to haul around just to "get home", maybe you should hold off until the footlockers go on clearance. (jk)

Re: Get back home bag
LOL!
I'll go check the housewares department!
I don't necessarily need a huge pack, I just need something bigger than I initially bought.
This Blackhawk pack is really nice, but it's only 13 L (830 cu in) in size. There's only so much you can cram into it.

I got it on clearance at Target Sports USA for like $15... $30 tops.

Re: Get back home bag
One more point I think is in order;
Practice.
I had some fire starters and one day whilst out in the greenery I tried to build a fire with one, from scratch. it was tricky to say the least. I realized that all the gear in the world dont mean squat if you cant work it.
Some of the things that come to mind are the saws, I would use one to build a temporary shelter lean to with my poncho and paracord. Can most people do this? probably no, not effectively. my first effort was dismal to say the leastDerrion Albert was my Hero.

Re: Get back home bag
I had asked for input on inexpensive, small "bags" to pack items into to organize by type.
I discovered (by scanning the tags) that these stuff sacks and dry bags were actually on clearance. (but not marked as such)
Not EXACTLY what I had in mind (was thinking small, zippered pouches), but they will certainly come in handy.
Also picked up a bunch of different NITE IZE assorted straps/twist ties to utilize either in the pack, or in the garage. (all on clearance less than half price)
I got five of the orange, 5L dry bags and one of the heavy rubber red dry pouches. (I think the orange ones were $3 ea - reg price $9)
I figure I may be able to stuff one of the orange bags into an exterior water bottle pouch on my pack.
(Oh yeah, I made a decision on the pack - I'll post more on that later)

Re: Get back home bag
I've been snagging things of this nature over the last several weeks as I see them go on clearance.
The survival blanket was on clearance for $9 - the exact same product is sold under multiple names online for $20.
It seems to be relatively decent quality, but the reinforced grommeted corners are still susceptible to tearing under heavy load.
Not real big at about 5'x7', but better than nothing. I may get a larger tarp as a shelter. this could go on the ground.
The hat was $4 on clearance. I had a cheapie knit hat in my kit, but this is much nicer - waterproof and reversible to orange.

Serious question. Have you considered a side-hustle where you buy out all the good clearance stuff you can find at your Walmart and any others you can easily get to and selling it at a profit on EBay or Amazon?
