Which is why it's best to buy before things go to shit.

Its a very simple channel database and specifically for th baofeng UV5R.
    List of 69 channels goes:
    FRS
    Gmrs
    murs 1
    Murs 1
    Murs 3
    Murs blue dot
    Murs green dot
    70cm ham call
    2m ham call
    Noaa weather alerts

I can also give basic start up directions on using chirp. Very basic but functional.
Please be careful with this. While it is legal to listen (and you'd have to create your Chirp load to prevent transmission, the the Baoefeng is not type classed for MURS, GMRS, FRS, or anything except HAM. The programming with intent to transmiit is not legal. While you could upload the program file as a PDF for people to do it themselves, you and the forum could get in trouble if the transmit function is not disabled in the Chirp file that you upload.

Yep. My childhood pocono vacations were great until it rained and tried to make a TV show out of a snow storm on the television there!
One year we went all out and brought up the VCR!

No as has been point out there are Blue and green dot, but these five will/ are the most common, and will help most people. Even now though there are few and far between enforcers but this is also making enemies of the HAM community as people are buying the cheep radios and disrupting people who know how to DF them and make life rough. I was like you when I first bought the radio I was only going to use it when SHTF, and a mentor to me asked, well who are you going to talk to when that happens, and how will you know who to trust, on the reverse side, how will they know they can trust you? So I got my license and became more active. This had the side effect of increasing my meat network to include some key people, so I am a "trusted" source and often received advanced warning on certain things, which is never a bad thing. Now not everyone needs get in as deep as I was thrown, but for basic communications to home (from work) or between trusted people, is ALWAYS a good backup. Just helped a guy in VA get his ticket and GMRS license for just that reason.
And I'm guessing that the second .940 should be a .946 based on the rhythm there.

This is not a good price.
go to radioddity.com or click on the link below for better prices, usually with $10.00 off if you give and email addy.

    https://www.radioddity.com/collectio...rice-ascending
it looks like they have the same radio listed for $29.99
But you have to use their software to bring the UHF freq up from 480.000 to 520.000
Not difficult to do. it give direction on the site. https://www.radioddity.com/collectio...-two-way-radio

for those who want to listen in on local air traffic, police, fire, ems, ect
click on this link below, it will take you to a page on the www.radioreference.com web

    https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stid=42

Click on your state, then scroll down to your county and click on it. scroll down and
the page will show you all the law enforcement, municipal , schools, airport frequencys.
the freqs with the higher numbers ( such as 500.66250) are UHF ( ultra hi freqs)
the frqs with the lower numbers ( such as 154.34000 ) are the VHF ( very hi freqs.)

if you buy a baofeng, make sure it has the upper UHF above 500
    like
Frequency Range: 136-174 / 400-520 MHz or learn to hack it in chirp like i did on you tube.
And for gods sake buy the $6.99 programing cable.
