Phil, I am not a lawyer but how you do reconcile the PA Superior Court decision in Commonwealth v. Anderson? (Please note that in August 2017, the Pennsylvania Superior Court issued an opinion in Commonwealth v. Anderson, ___ A.3d ___ (Aug. 23, 2017), and ruled that an Act 235 certification is not a substitute for a license to carry. Agents are reminded of the Regulations governing Act 235, at Section 21.26(d), which state "The issuance of a certification card to a privately employed agent does not grant the agent the right or privilege to carry, possess, own, or have under his control a firearm contrary to 18 Pa.C.S. § § 6101—6120 (relating to Uniform Firearms Act)." In light of this ruling, it may be prudent for agents to obtain a license to carry their firearms while in an off-duty status, including traveling to and from places of employment, or in instances where agents are required to conceal a firearm on duty, including loaded carry inside of a vehicle. Agents should direct questions regarding this to their employers.)

Ok, I just reread spandexlurch's statement and I wonder if you are taking exception to the "required by law and work" part.

...and the Erie County Courthouse is now officially closed. This of course is to prevent anyone from applying for a dog license I am sure.

Whether I'm required by law or not, and I may have been wrong in my original statement, my place of employment requires I have an LTCF due to that ruling.

    That would suffice, then.

For the peanut gallery, an LTCF is not a substitute for an Act 235 certification. Carrying a gun for work requires Act 235 compliance.

On the other hand, Act 235 isn't a substitute for an LTCF, either.

I understand Pa is extending the expiration dates for drivers licenses and auto registrations. No reason they can not do for carry permits. I have contacted my State Representative and expressed my opinion on this subject. I suggest you do the same.

There is no reason to have a LTCF at all. Time to repeal the whole section with this words.

“The people can own and carry any weapon, of any type, anywhere, at any time, without question, as provided for in section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

I was coming up on expiration and renewed this morning in person in Doylestown (Bucks).

Normal opening hours are 8AM, showed up then on the dot was told new hours are opening at 9AM. I was told they were limiting to two applicants in office at a time and somehow even when I returned right at 9 I was third... I waited in lobby for about twenty minutes and was then escorted downstairs by a deputy. I had the paperwork filled out in advance, and once down there was in and out in less than ten minutes. Actually the shortest time I've ever spent there.

I do have to say everyone was quite on edge...
