I vacuum seal identity documents and important papers, cash, coins, etc. pretty much anything.

Then put those packs in a watertight box or whatever.

Keep in mind that although vacuum sealing remove air, and can prolong the shelf life of dry products it can not remove 100% of the oxygen. Thus it is best for “short term storage of a few years.

For long term storage (decades) you need oxygen absorbers, which are inexpensive, and remove 100% of the oxygen.

I end to vacuum seal stuff that I’ll be keeping in my pantry. Like dried fruit. Long term stuff for emergencies gets oxygen absorbers.

Also keep in mind that food saver bags are plastic. Plastic is, however so slightly air permeable. This is where Mylar comes into play. I only use food saver bags for stuff going on the freezer.

Garage / Barn freezes in winter. Bad for canned goods and liquids.
No sweat for rice beans corn flour wheat pasta etc etc etc.

    issue: mice.
Solution: Make a couple of bucket traps.

Humid dirt floor basement = Bad for canned food. Rust is not good for cans.
Solution: put cans 5 gal buckets. Never open in the basement, take upstairs and open and close in a dry environment. Allow temp to stabilize before closing to avoid condensation.

Freezer gets meat fish fowl butter cheese frozen veggies.

Yesterday, I froze a roast, some chicken breasts, and 4 lbs of ground beef in 1lb portions after sealing them with the FoodSaver.
Also tossed two loaves of bread in the freezer since getting bread can be spotty in the stores.

I tried an experiment to see if I could vac seal 6 slices of bread with the FoodSaver, but I hit the "seal" button too quickly, leaving more air in it than I intended.

And yes, the ammo I vacuum packed in 2008 is still sealed.

I wonder if these are all produced by the same facory and they just put different labels on them.

My last 4 orders for FS 11x50 'bags' was this brand, within a few cents the same cost. They've been good to me.

Years ago bogey1 had mentioned a brand, forget their name right now, they were great, but the supplier disappeared.
