Totally different cartridge. 6.5 Swedish Mauser is 6.5x55.

I've never fired a Creedmor, so I don't know. The 6.5 Swedish Mauser is a "relatively" soft recoiling round for its performance, but that's a subjective assessment on my part.

I have only shot 6.5 carcano, but that's 6.5x52.... just a hair smaller...

I have a CZ 550 American in 6.5 X 55 S.E. The difference is because of the modern design and materials the maximum operating pressure is set at 55,000 psi instead of the lower pressure for the older military guns. Using the similar bullets as the Creedmore cartridge I can get quite close velocity wise. I believe I've posted test results here in the past. I get 3004 FPS with Sierra's 100gr. SHP, 2929 FPS with 120 gr SIerra SSP 2779 FPS with Sierra 140 gr SBT all Gameking bullets. Norma Powder seems to give the best performance. 6.5 X 55 is very comfortable to shoot.

I believe 6.5 swede is also a larger diameter case, while 6.5 carcano is smaller. 6.5 creedmoor is the same case head as .308.

The performance difference between the 6.5 Creedmore, 260 Remington and 6.5X55 is very small. Compared to the Creedmore and shooting the same bullet, the .260 Remington is faster and the 100+ year old 6.5x55 is slower factory wise. But the slower velocity for the 6.5x55 that is due to the 100 year old rifles out there and a much lower Saami pressure. Loading the 6.5x55 to modern pressure levels in modern rifles (safely) it will blow the other two away. It has the largest case capacity.

Makes you wonder why the Creedmore is today's "supercartrige".

Because it works in AR-10 platforms and magazines.

I would assume the 260 Remington would too. It is a necked down .308.

The 6.5x55 is a long action cartridge but it would be my choice for a long range bolt rifle.
